How to Apply Liquiproof to Sneakers

Below is the full application method we recommend you follow to ensure the best protective performance from Liquiproof:

Prepare your sneakers

STEP 1

Place a shoe tree in each sneaker. Ensure the surface is clean and free from any dust and dirt. We recommend using on new items. Brush off the loose particles with our Premium Hog Hair Brush even if the sneakers are box fresh.

Application

STEP 2

Ensure you are using the appropriate protector spray. Spray evenly over the entire sneakers from a distance of approx. 10-15 cm until surface is damp.

STEP 3

When applying to sneakers that contain a more than one material, for example; suede (absorbent) and leather (non-absorbent). Then first apply the Fabric Protector to the suede (absorbent) sections. Allow to dry fully (approx. 4 hours) before applying the Leather Protector coating to the leather (non-absorbent) sections.

Apply the Leather coating gently and work it in with one of our Premium Hog Hair Brushes, spreading any droplets that form. Let the coating absorb into the fabric before repeating. Repeat 3 times over a period of 1 hour,  then allow to dry for 24 hours naturally.

The spray coating can be gently rubbed into the fibres to ensure it bonds deep into the material. We recommend using the soft side of our Premium Triple Sided Brush. Start on the lightest colours first or use a separate brush for each colour material. Not following this process may cause irreversible damage/colour bleed.

For best results and to ensure the most effective protection repeat steps 2 and 3 at least twice. Do not allow to dry before repeating.

STEP 4

Using an absorbent, lint free cloth, wipe down any non-absorbent parts of the sneakers, for example; metal buckles and soles.

Leave to air dry for at least 24 hours.

Suede, Nubuck and Sheepskin Tip

Once dry, gently use our Premium Hog Hair Brush to restore the soft nap.

Please note – the application method is very important. Not following the instructions correctly may cause irregular protection or visible patches. We are always here to help, so please contact us.

Important Guidance & Aftercare

  • Do not apply Liquiproof on top of other delicate, porous surfaces, such as; granite or marble worktops. They will become repellent!

  • Try not to oversaturate the material. If over-spraying occurs, absorb with a clean, dry lint-free cloth.

  • We cannot guarantee that our coating will work to its best ability if the surface has previously been treated with other products. This is why we recommend applying Liquiproof to new items. Using cleaning or treatment products, such as; using polish onto of Liquiproof will reduce overall effectiveness.

  • Liquiproof will not fill air gaps and therefore liquids will still pass through any mesh/netting.

  • If any residue or soiling agents fail to bead up and roll off, simply wash off with clean water immediately. If it still remains, rub with a clean absorbent cloth. Follow care guidelines of the garment.

  • Remove all coating residue from non-absorbent materials, such as; buckles, rubber soles or patent leather before they dry.
