How to apply the protector spray to footwear:

How to apply the shoe protector spray to other fashion items:

STEP 1

Ensure the surface is clean and free from dust and dirt. If your shoes are dirty, use a brush to remove any loose dirt or debris, and give them a thorough clean using an eco-cleaner. Allow the shoes to dry completely before applying the water repellent spray. Although our protector spray works on used items, we always recommend using it on new items.

STEP 2

Shake the bottle to mix the liquid. Hold the bottle upright and spray evenly over the entire surface from a distance of approx. 10-15 cm until the surface is damp. Make sure to cover all absorbent parts of the items. Please note our protector spray does not work on patent or already treated items.

STEP 3

We recommend the coating is gently rubbed into the fibres to ensure it bonds deep into the fabric fibres using a clean, hog hair soft brush (featured in the video is our hog hair brush in natural wood we no longer stock. Opt for hog hair brush in black instead). For tougher materials like canvas and mesh, we recommend using our hard bristle fibre brush.

STEP 4

Allow 10 minutes then repeat steps 2 & 3 at least once. Leave to air dry for 24 hours

Please note: The application method is very important. Not following the instructions correctly may cause irregular protection or visible patches. We are always here to help, so please contact us. Do not use on waterproof, resistant, repellent or patent materials.

Important Guidance & Aftercare

  • Do not apply Liquiproof LABS Premium Protector spray on top of other delicate, porous surfaces, such as; granite or marble worktops. They will become water-repellent.

  • When carrying out Step 3, start on the lightest colours first or use a separate brush for each colour material. Not following this process may cause an irreversible colour bleed.

  • Try not to oversaturate the material. If over-spraying occurs, absorb it with a clean, dry cloth.

  • When applying to garments that contain a mixture of materials, for example; suede and leather. Apply the protector spray first to the suede sections following the steps above. Allow drying fully before applying the leather conditioner spray to the leather sections.
  • We cannot guarantee that our coating will work to its best ability if the surface has already been previously treated with other products, so we recommend applying Liquiproof to new items. Using cleaning or treatment products such as polish on top of our coating will reduce effectiveness.

  • Liquiproof LABS Premium Protector spray will not fill air gaps and therefore liquids will still pass through any mesh/netting.

  • If any residue or soiling agents fail to bead up and roll off, simply wash off with clean water immediately. If it still remains, rub with a clean absorbent cloth. Follow the care guidelines of the garment.

  • Remove all coating residue from non-absorbent materials such as buckles, rubber soles or patent leather before they dry.
  • The way to clean up spills depends on the type of mess you're left with. Often, all you have to do is apply water or a soap-and-water solution to the soiled area. Remember, it's always best to remove spots as quickly as possible before they dry, even though you typically have a one- to two-day window before the stain sets in. Steer clear of bleach-based cleaning agents; they may remove the protective coating and can even intensify stains.
