How To Apply Liquiproof Leather

Please follow the below method of application set out below to ensure you get the best protective effect from Liquiproof Protection Spray:

Liquiproof waterproof protection for leather

Ensure the surface is clean and free from dust and dirt. We recommend using on new items. Ensure the leather is unwaxed.

Spray evenly over the entire surface from a distance of approx. 10-15 cm until surface appears damp.

Spread any pooling/droplets evenly across the whole surface and gently work in with one of our premium brushes or lint free cloth. Allow the coating to absorb in before repeating steps 2 & 3 at least three times in total over a period of 1 hour.

Using an absorbent, lint free cloth, remove excess coating paying close attention to non-absorbent parts, for example metal buckles and rubber sections.

Leave to air dry for at least 24 hours.

Please note – the application method is very important. Not following the instructions correctly may cause irregular protection or visible patches. We are always here to help, so please contact us. DO NOT USE ON PATENT, SUEDE, NUBUCK, OR SHEEPSKIN LEATHERS.

Important Guidance and Aftercare

  • Do not apply Liquiproof on top of other delicate porous surfaces such as granite or marble worktops. They will become repellent!

  • Leather treatment may darken certain leathers. Colours may become more vivid. Test on an inconspicuous area prior to use.

  • When carrying out Step 3, start on the lightest colours first or use a separate brush for each colour material. Not following this process may cause irreversible colour bleed.

  • Try not to over saturate the material. If over-spraying occurs, absorb with a clean, dry lint free cloth.

  • When applying to garments that contain a mixture of materials, (for example suede and leather), apply the blue droplet footwear/fabric coating to the absorbent suede sections first following the appropriate steps outlined here. Allow to dry fully before applying the black droplet leather coating to the leather sections.
  • We cannot guarantee that our coating will work to its best ability if the surface has already been previously treated with other products such as wax, so we recommend applying Liquiproof to new, unwaxed items. Using cleaning or treatment products such as polish on top of our coating will reduce effectiveness.

  • If any residue or soiling agents fail to bead up and roll off, simply wash off with clean water immediately. If it still remains, rub with a clean absorbent cloth. Follow care guidelines of the garment.

  • Remove all coating residue from non-absorbent materials such as buckles, rubber soles or patent leather before they dry.
